Slovenia is an ideal destination for families and those looking for an active holiday, there are so many opportunities for hiking, cycling, kayaking and horse-riding as well as more adventurous pursuits such as zip-lines, canyoning, cave exploring and paragliding. For those who prefer food-related and cultural activities we can recommend lots of wine tasting, local produce, nature-themed trails, craft demonstrations and great places to eat.

Slovenia has become more and more well known for its wines in recent years. The best areas are in the extreme west, Goriska Brda region, which is full of small producers and some stunning scenery. In the north-east you'll find the Maribor and Ormož vineyards, home of golden Renski Riesling; moving south, there is the Dolenjska region, home of light red, drinkable "Cviček"; travelling west you come to the Primorska region, best known for its rich red wines, Refošk and Merlot and a little further north-west you finally come to the famous Vipava valley, vineyards of choice of the Hapsburgs.
