About Romania
Romania is one of the most unexplored parts of Europe, tucked away in a remote corner where few visit. Many people don't know much about this gorgeous country, beyond the connection with the myth of Dracula.
In fact, much of Romania is virtually untouched countryside and follows a way of life that has long been extinguished, or at the very least diminished into very small pockets elsewhere in Europe; centuries-old folklore and traditions still thrive in its picturesque villages.
Our small group guided tours, fly-drives and tailor-made holidays take you right into the heart of this fascinating country allowing you to see not only the important sights but also to spend quality time in the villages where local culture is at its strongest.
Romania's unspoilt scenery and legendary hospitality are unquestionably real, as you'll confirm when you have explored a country, still waiting to be rediscovered.
Self Drive Holidays in Romania.
Whichever route you choose you will almost certainly traverse the spectacular Carpathian Mountains, (home to bears and wolves) and take in the mysterious and history-filled towns of Transylvania. If you wish to venture further north then the gorgeous painted monasteries of Bucovina and the hidden valleys of rural Maramures await you. Away from the mountains we would recommend an opportunity to explore the beautiful Danube Delta (which deserves at least a few days), staying at an isolated settlement deep within its distributaries. These are some of the genuine cultural encounters that travelling to Romania with Rediscover the World affords you, leaving enduring memories of this truly unique and enchanting country.
Hiking in Romania's Carpathian Mountains.
Discover the peaks of the Carpathians, Transylvania's mediaeval towns and the monasteries of Moldova. Our most popular walking and sightseeing holiday also includes authentic Romanian cuisine, feudal villages, folklore and moments of relaxation in some of the most picturesque places in Eastern Europe.

A Quick Geography of Romania
Romania is situated in the south-eastern part of Central Europe and shares borders with Hungary to the northwest, Serbia to the southwest, Bulgaria to the south, the Black Sea to the southeast, Ukraine to the north and the Republic of Moldova to the east. Its capital, known as the "Paris of the East" is Bucharest.
Romania's territory features splendid mountains, beautiful rolling hills, rich with orchards and vineyards and fertile plains largely devoted to agriculture and numerous rivers and lakes. The Carpathian Mountains traverse the centre of the country, forests cover over one quarter of the land and the fauna is some of the richest in Europe including bears, deer, lynx, chamois and wolves. The legendary Danube River ends its eight-country journey at the Black Sea, after forming one of the largest and most bio-diverse wetlands in the world, the Danube Delta.
We look forward to being of service.
