You are here: Home > Greece > Mainland Greece > Zagori > Monodendri Hotel
Monodendri is one of the most beautiful Zagorian villages, in fact the entire village has been declared a national historical monument.
The fact that this region was mountainous and fairly remote from the rest of Greece was a benefit during the Ottoman occupation as the villagers had to be self reliant so they established a trade network in the area and further afield; some of these trade routes were extensive and led all the way to Eastern Europe and beyond. This is why today in the area you find many cobbled footpaths winding through this region, which were built to facilite this commerce.
The Monodendri Hotel has been in the same family since the 1980s. It's a grand, imposing building with fabulous views towards the Vikos Gorge and Mount Tymfi.
There are 22 rooms (mostly doubles but a handful of triple rooms and family rooms). All rooms are en suite with TV, desk, small living area, mini bar, hairdryer & central heating for the chillier months.
Breakfast is available in the restaurant and this is also the place to try various mouthwatering local dishes such as cheese pie, chicken pie and lamb with lemon. There is a bar serving coffee and drinks.
