About Budva
Budva is located half way along the short but spectacular coastline of Montenegro. It is an old walled town that has become quite a popular high season location for those looking for a combination of the traditional and lively. The Budva coast is 21 km long with 17 beaches; it is among the most beautiful coasts in the world. Nearby Sveti Stefan is the classic Montenegrin fortified village jutting out to the Adriatic, much photographed but now exclusively accessed by guests of the Aman resort.
Apart from its natural beauty, its bay, islands and beaches, Budva is rich in historic monuments. The old town Budva lies on a small peninsula and represents a medieval-style fortification system, with town gates, protective walls and towers; inside, the town is laid out with narrow streets and small squares. Budva is known for the Church of St. Ivan (7th century) with paintings and icons done by Venetian painters during the period of 15th to 17th centuries and a library exhibits valuable old church books. Other churches of note are the Church of St. Marija in Punta, built by the Benedictines in 840, the Church of St. Sava, built during the Nemanjić dynasty's rule in the 14th century and the Church of the Holy Trinity (1804). In front of the church is the grave of the writer Stefan Mitrov Ljubiša and in its tower is the local ethnographic collection. The monasteries of Stanjevici, Podostrog, Rezevici and Gradiste are also important historic and religious monuments of Budva. At all times you can explore on foot and visit shops, cafés, restaurants and galleries.
Budva is a resort for people who love entertainment, the spirit of antiquity and sandy beaches! You can enjoy daily entertainment at bars, adventure sports and the offer of good seafood in restaurants; why not follow in the footsteps of the Illyrians, Romans and Greeks and walk beside the walls of the mediaeval town. During the summer, Budva turns into a theatrical stage and offers a multitude of foreign and local productions, concerts and performances.
We look forward to being of service.
