The imposing main building of the Syrou Melathron Hotel was built in Vaporia, the aristocratic district of the capital Ermoupolis in 1857. Most of its neoclassical architecture including the wonderful Parian marble and wooden carved eaves have been preserved. In 1988, the building was officially declared a historical monument, and over the years it has been expanded and has adapted to the needs of the modern era, combining the aesthetics of the 19th century with all the comforts of a contemporary hotel.
The Syrou Melathron is the perfect retreat for those wishing to explore Syros' sights, as it is located just a few meters away from the beautiful Cathedral of St. Nicholas and the Apollo Theatre - a miniature of La Scala Theatre in Milan. Only a stone's throw away is the city's central Miaoulis Square, home to the statue of the heroic Admiral Andreas Miaoulis, the marble platform of Philharmonic created by the sculptor Georgios Vitalis and the Town Hall designed by the great architect Ernest Ziller.
The hotel offers double rooms with or without sea view, which are capable of taking an extra bed; family rooms and elegant suites. All rooms have private bathroom with bath or shower, mini bar, LCD TV, air conditioning, safe, telephone, Wifi access, iron and ironing board, hairdryer and robe and slippers.
The impressive plaster ceiling paintings, the fine furniture of classic style, its careful and tasteful decoration , the modern luxury and comforts create an environment of exceptional design and comfortable accommodation for guests, whether in its public areas or in the rooms. Here nobility and the images of a bygone era are evident everywhere. The elegant furnishings and hardwood floors, the discreet decoration with a special touch drawn from the past create a relaxing atmosphere.
From the hotel's roof garden you can watch the ferries passing by on their way to the neighbouring islands and enjoy a dramatic sunrise and the moonlit vista of Vaporia with its beautiful mansions.
