The lovingly restored traditional building dates back to 1845, standing proudly for more than 160 years as a landmark of village life. Once the tallest structure overlooking the old village square of Mesochori, it played an important role in the community. Over the decades it served as an all-purpose store — a tailor’s, a butcher’s, a barber’s and even the local grocer’s — until the early 1970s, when it was eventually abandoned.
Bringing the building back to life was a true labour of love. Restored with deep respect for its original character and the local architectural heritage, it has been carefully refurbished to blend seamlessly with its surroundings. Today, the ground-floor winter rooms, summer rooms upstairs and the old stone cellar still echo the charm and history that once made this place a village focal point.
The traditional craftsmanship shines through at every turn — from 80-centimetre-thick stone walls and elegant stone arches to wooden ceilings, staircases and old trap-doors that whisper stories of the past. Many of the rooms feature inviting fireplaces, while the atmospheric stone cellar, complete with its own hearth, offers a wonderfully authentic setting for a traditional breakfast.
Step onto the wooden balconies, and you’ll feel as though you could reach out and touch the towering rocks of Meteora themselves — a breathtaking sight that makes this historic building a truly unforgettable place to stay.
