About Poros
Poros is made up of two islands connected by a bridge: the southern Sferia, home to Poros Town, and the larger northern island, Kalavria. With a proud naval history dating back to 1827 during the Greek War of Independence, Poros has long been associated with sailing and boat building.
Poros Town is a delightful mix of traditional and neoclassical architecture, with the bell tower serving as its most striking landmark. The town’s quaint streets are perfect for leisurely strolls, offering cafés, tavernas, and charming shops along the waterfront.
Situated between Aegina and Hydra, Poros is ideally located for Saronic island hopping, and it hugs the coastline of the Eastern Peloponnese, just a five-minute sail from the mainland. A day trip to the Argolis region, including Epidavros, Mycenae, and Nafplion, is highly recommended.
The island’s beaches are perfect for relaxation, while more active visitors can explore the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi, perched spectacularly on pine-clad slopes. Poros offers the perfect blend of history, natural beauty, and authentic Greek charm, ideal for a peaceful yet engaging getaway.
