About Parga
In a sheltered bay framed by the Ionian Sea and the Epirus mountains, Parga is one of Greece’s most enchanting coastal towns. Its pastel houses rise amphitheatrically from the harbour towards the old Turkish market, while the tiny islet of Panagia, crowned with a whitewashed chapel, completes the scene.
Rich in history and charm, Parga reveals its Venetian, Ottoman and Byzantine past in winding lanes, ancient fortifications and the striking Venetian castle illuminated above the bay each evening. Beyond the town, olive-clad hills and untouched villages invite exploration, offering a glimpse of authentic mainland Greece.
Down by the harbour, fishing boats and water taxis bob beside tavernas and cafés serving fresh seafood and the finest wines from the region. By day, relax on nearby Valtos Beach or take a short boat trip to the nearby islands of Paxos and Antipaxos; by night, savour the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes Parga unforgettable.
