About Falassarna
This award-winning beach, part of the protected Natura 2000 network, is cherished for its rich variety of flora and fauna and its unspoilt natural landscape.
Falassarna features five beautiful beaches, each separated by rolling dunes and rocky outcrops. The best known is Pachia Ammos, a sweeping kilometre-long stretch of fine sand backed by imposing mountains. Its crystal-clear waters, brilliant sunsets, and well-organised facilities—beach bars, umbrellas, a beach volleyball court, and watersports—make it the most popular of the five.
History is never far away here. Close by, you can explore the ruins of the ancient town, the old quarry, a carved throne, and the remains of the Temple of Artemis. High above the bay, the small cave church of St Fotis and St Invincible also rewards visitors with wonderful views.
Falassarna is ideal for those seeking a quiet, laid-back holiday and the simple, authentic pleasures of Cretan life—sun, sea, warm hospitality, and outstanding natural beauty.
