These two sites are not only stunningly beautiful, they also have a wealth of history attached to them. The ancient Greeks believed that Delphi was the centre of the universe. This sanctuary, dedicated to Apollo, attracted pilgrims in droves - they all came to consult the priestess of Apollo on private matters or matters of state. Delphi sits between two towering peaks of Mount Parnassus with extensive views to the valley below.

Meteora is the site of many monasteries, perched high on granite rocks. These religious houses were built in such an inaccessible place to be safe from attack, but also because the monks felt closer to God. Supplies (and often animals) had to be winched up in a basket from the ground!

Mondays from 6th April - 26th October; Wednesdays from 8th April - 28th October; Thursdays from 9th April - 29th October ; Saturdays from 18th April - 17th October (except 4th July, 18th July, 1st August, 8th August & 15th August.)

Leave for Delphi via Thebes, Levadia and the picturesque village of Arachova, on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, arrive in Delphi and visit the Archaeological Site. After the visit depart for Kalambaka, passing through picturesque villages and towns of Central Greece. Dinner and overnight in the Meteora area.

Visit Meteora and enjoy unique and most impressive scenery with timeless monasteries, containing priceless historical and religious treasures, standing between earth and sky atop huge rocks. 

 

 

Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae and Kamena Vourla, arriving into Athens early evening.
